It is reported that the British company Verso Biosense is developing an intrauterine device with sensors that can collect environmental data inside the uterus in real time, providing new technical means for fertility research and women's health care.

The device is similar in appearance to a traditional IUD for contraception, but has a tiny sensor integrated inside. These sensors continuously monitor metrics such as uterine temperature and oxygen content and transmit the data wirelessly for researchers to analyze. The researchers hope that this device will help uncover the mysteries of one of the most understood organs in medicine, the uterus.

At present, the most direct application scenario of this device is assisted reproductive therapy. The technique will initially be explored for fertility treatments, especially for women who have experienced in vitro fertilization (IVF) failures. By monitoring the condition of the uterus, the researchers hope to identify patterns that contribute to successful implantation of embryos.

Company CEO Kate Raleigh said the technology aims to fill a long-standing gap in women's health research: "Although the uterus has a huge impact on half of the world's population, it is still a 'black box' in many areas of medicine, and continuous monitoring may provide us with unprecedented insights. ”
