Obstetrics and Gynecology Network · Bali On-site Interview
From September 4 to 7, 2026, the 26th Asia-Pacific Association for Gynecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy (APAGE) and the 13th Indonesian Gynecological Endoscopy Society (IGES) Annual Scientific Meeting 2026 were held in Bali, bringing together gynecological endoscopy experts from around the world. Hysteroscopic myomectomy, as an important uterus-preserving procedure, features a steep learning curve and high clinical risks. The lack of systematic learning resources for young doctors is a common challenge faced by the global gynecological community.
As the invited official cooperative media of APAGE 2026 & 13th IGES, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Network (www.obgy.cn) provided full coverage of the meeting highlights and conducted a series of in-depth academic reports. Taking advantage of this offline gathering, Professor Gong Xiaoming, a Chinese expert in gynecological endoscopy, engaged in a deep conversation with Professor Rahul Manchanda, a board member of the International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy (ISGE) and a leading authority on hysteroscopy in India. As a practitioner deeply involved in gynecological minimally invasive surgery and standardized doctor training in China, Professor Gong has always been concerned with how to localize high-quality international academic resources to help young Chinese endoscopy doctors avoid detours. This dialogue covered the thoughts behind the transnational co-authored monograph and previewed the upcoming Advanced Hysteroscopic Myomectomy Online Training Course.

Filling an Industry Gap: A Multinational Hysteroscopy Monograph
Regarding the book A Complete Guide to Hysteroscopic Myomectomy, Professor Manchanda introduced that it is the world’s first monograph dedicated specifically to hysteroscopic myomectomy, bringing together clinical experience from experts in India, Egypt, Italy, China, and other countries. Real cases and practical insights from different regions are included.
Professor Gong Xiaoming also contributed to the writing team. Professor Manchanda spoke highly of Professor Gong, describing him as a prolific and innovative clinician in the contemporary hysteroscopic endoscopy field, and noted that Professor Gong is known among international peers by the nickname “MyomaMan.”
This is not the team’s first pioneering work. Previously, they completed the world’s first monographs on hysteroscopic surgical complications and Asherman syndrome, all published by top international medical publishers Elsevier and Springer. The original intention behind writing these books was to provide clinicians with a systematic reference tool.
“Scattered experience is not enough to support complex surgeries. We hope to integrate the wisdom of colleagues worldwide so that more clinical practitioners can benefit,” said Professor Manchanda.
Currently, there is no Chinese translation of the book; the original version can be purchased through Amazon, eBay, ScienceDirect, and other channels. Professor Gong also expressed his expectations, believing that this monograph holds high reference value for domestic doctors performing hysteroscopy, and hopes to promote the introduction of a Chinese version in the future to lower the reading barrier for Chinese colleagues.
Beyond the Book: Building an International Online Classroom for Chinese Doctors
“Books can consolidate theoretical foundations, but hysteroscopy is, after all, a highly practical skill,” said Professor Gong. The growth of young doctors requires not only studying authoritative works but also listening to frontline international experts share their practical experience in case management and risk handling. Online medical education breaks geographical barriers, creating opportunities for domestic doctors to learn cutting-edge international experience without leaving their homes.
Based on this training philosophy, Professor Manchanda’s team has launched the Advanced Hysteroscopic Myomectomy Online Training Course. Their institution has long been deeply engaged in offline hands-on hysteroscopy training and online courses in India, accumulating rich experience in physician training.
This training course lasts two days, with 2 hours of lectures each day. It abandons the single-expert lecture model and invites gynecological endoscopy experts from China, India, the United States, Spain, Belgium, and other countries to share together. The course specially sets up a key module on complications, lectured by Professor Linda Bradley from the United States on risk identification and management of hysteroscopic myomectomy—a topic that Professor Gong considers most lacking for young doctors.
Professor Manchanda will serve as the host of this training course. He also admitted that the two-day course capacity is limited, and if the response is enthusiastic, a second session will be planned. In his view, medical progress is built on knowledge sharing, and the collision of clinical perspectives from different countries can bring more inspiration to participating doctors.
To fully consider the learning experience of domestic colleagues, the training course will be equipped with simultaneous Chinese translation to eliminate language barriers.

Professor Gong stated that he warmly welcomes domestic obstetricians and gynecologists to participate in this online classroom and apply the practical experience of international experts to their own clinical practice. Professor Manchanda also looks forward to using this training course as a starting point for more China-India academic exchanges in gynecological endoscopy in the future.
Interview Conclusion
Hysteroscopic myomectomy carries the hope of uterine preservation for many patients with uterine fibroids, while also imposing stringent demands on the surgeon’s technical储备 (technical reserve) and risk prediction capabilities.
From Professor Gong’s perspective, the standardized training of young doctors cannot be separated from the dual support of “monographs consolidating theory + practical courses broadening horizons.” This pioneering monograph co-authored by multinational experts, combined with the internationally translated online training course, opens a window for domestic gynecological endoscopy doctors to access global clinical experience. It is expected that more high-quality international academic resources will be introduced into China in the future to steadily advance domestic gynecological minimally invasive techniques.
